Florida Blue Medicare Advantage Plans 2020
Advantage plans are giving seniors a way to get all of Medicare Parts A and B without having to stick to the common senior medical insurance plan Original Medicare. Advantage plans offer more coverage than Original Medicare while incorporating all of that plan’s coverage too. The Florida Blue Medicare Advantage plans for 2020 do all of this in a way that is very economical and customer oriented, which is why we want to tell you a bit about them.
Why Florida Blue?
The Florida Blue insurance company is a part of Blue Cross Blue Shield. It is simply a Florida branch of that company that caters to residents of this state. It is widely available throughout Florida, and it offers extensive coverage for its plans with a vast network of clinics, hospitals and doctor’s offices that accept its plans. This means the seniors in Florida can expect to be covered in most areas of the state when they have a Florida Blue Advantage plan.
Florida Blue sells both high and low coverage Advantage plans. Of course, even the most basic and lowest coverage Advantage plan is still a few steps of coverage higher than most medical insurance plans. These are meant to be insurance policies that are ideal for people with a lot of medical needs or with a desire to have great peace of mind about their healthcare coverage.
Florida Blue also has some great rates for its plans, and it is well known for having some of the most economical prices on medical insurance in the state. You can see what their rates are when you search for Advantage plans on our site. We make it really easy to see how expensive these plans are for your location, and we will show you a list of rates that will include Florida Blue, if they are available where you are at. You can see how their prices compare to those of other insurers and get local, accurate and up-to-date rates that you can use to make an informed coverage decision.
Why You May Want to Sign up for Medicare Advantage
We have told you about some of the advantages of using Florida Blue as your insurer, but what about Medicare Advantage? Why should you consider that as a medical insurance plan for yourself as opposed to other Medicare plan types or other kinds of health insurance policies?
The answer is that Medicare Advantage simply offers more than most other medical insurance plans and it does so in a usually cost effective way. Medicare Advantage is designed to have lots of coverage. Let’s talk for a moment about what exactly that coverage is.
First of all, Medicare Advantage will take care of the majority of your Medicare Part A and Part B costs and services. It covers all of those outpatient and inpatient expenses except for hospice care. That would be covered through Medicare directly. Medicare Advantage will give you most of Original Medicare’s coverage but through your private insurer.
It also covers any emergency medical services you may need, such as ambulatory care, ER visits and other lifesaving treatment. In addition, it will cover you for anything that your doctor considers to be urgently needed care. This could be medication, therapy, medical tests, doctor’s visits, and many other services and expenses.
Many of the Florida Blue Medicare Advantage plans for 2020 will go way beyond this with their coverage. What we have discussed so far is simply the most basic coverage that you get with all of the Advantage plans, and yet it is already a lot of coverage. However, a lot of Advantage plans also include cover for Medicare Part D drug plans. This is going to cover many prescription drugs, both of the generic and name brand varieties.
Some of Florida Blue’s Advantage plans will also cover you for medical checkups that you need routinely throughout the year. You can be covered for checkups with your doctor or a specialist for your hearing, vision, or general wellness.
How Florida Blue Covers You on Its Network
Florida Blue has a very large network throughout the state, but there will be some places where their network simply does not extend. Those are areas where their plans are not accepted, and if you have a Florida Blue plan there, and you live outside of their network, then you need to find a way to get at least some coverage. In those instances, you can choose a PPO Florida Blue Advantage plan. This kind of plan will be detailed in the name of the plan, so you will see something along the lines of “Florida Blue Medicare Advantage PPO”. This tells you that you are getting a PPO network option, which will cover you partially outside of the network and fully within the network. This kind of plan costs more than the common HMO one, but it gives you coverage where the HMO plan will not.
Compare the two kinds of coverage options and decide which one works best for you. HMO plans cost less but only cover you on the carrier’s network. These are your two primary options, and they should be available at any Florida Blue office in the state. Other kinds of network option are available as well, but they are less common and many seniors may not qualify for them.
If you have questions about Medicare Advantage or network coverage, then be sure to give us a call. We would be happy to answer your questions and help you decide on the right coverage plan for your future. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all kind of plan when it comes to Medicare Advantage, so you will want to carefully examine your options and choose one that works well for your needs.
Florida Blue Medicare Advantage plans for 2020 are worth looking into for any senior who is eligible. So long as you are 65 and eligible for Medicare, you should be able to sign up for one of these plans between October 15th and December 7th of this year.
